Tribunal de Grande Instance

The new Paris Courthouse positions itself as a reflection on the concept of justice. Permeated by transparency and light, it has been designed by RPBW Architects-Renzo Piano Building Workshop to inspire trust and 'transmit a sense of calm.

For this important project, Tecno has designed special wired tables for court rooms, large bookcases for offices, and two and a half kilometres of benches, for a total of 5000 seats across 90 court rooms. The particular “droplet” shape of tables is very functional (for brief, informal meetings between judges and lawyers). With their metal and seasoned beech structure and top in solid surface Krion®, warm to the touch and similar to natural stone, the tables project an image of authority while also offering a flexible approach.

There is more horizontal seasoned beech in the bookcases created for three prestigious offices, including that of the general attorney and the president, which create an imposing 9x3 metre wooden “wall”. The benches, developed according to a design by RPBW Architects, are entirely in Krion®, which ensures antibacterial properties, resistance, durability, reduced maintenance and easy cleaning. The slender and lightweight metal structure supports a thin sheet to create a monocoque, offering levels of comfort that fit with the desire to create an environment that is as hospitable as possible.
