The WS Seating System
The WS Seating System is an innovative seating solution created by Tecno between 1981 and 1983, designed to meet practical needs not only in enclosed collective spaces but also in urban furniture. This project had a significant impact on public furniture design and shared spaces, thanks to the use of premium materials and cutting-edge technical solutions for its time.

Beyond Design: Functionality and Longevity
The WS Seating System is not just a design product but a practical solution to the challenges posed by collective spaces. It’s built to last and provide comfort to its users. A perfect example of how design can meet efficiency and functionality without sacrificing aesthetics. The design approach is focused on versatility, offering the option of longitudinal strip cushions and armrests, options that enhance comfort and adaptability to various needs. The combination of the natural serizzo material and the innovative steel structure gives the WS system both aesthetic and functional value, making it ideal for modern offices as well as public spaces such as squares or waiting areas.

Craftsmanship and Materials: A Touch of Nature
The structure of the WS Seating System stands out due to the use of serizzo (a type of granite) cut in a saw-tooth pattern, a material that provides both strength and a refined natural aesthetic. The tables are made from 3 cm thick slabs of serizzo, carefully cut, polished, and beveled to create a solid and durable surface, perfect for high-traffic areas.

Alitalia Agency Image Redesign
In 1982, Alitalia selected Tecno, with Studio Cortesi and Studio G14, to redesign its London agency. The project aimed for a flexible, cohesive design with elements like a technological portal, WS seating, and cylindrical columns. The interior featured aluminum ceilings, glass walls, and green carpeting with Alitalia’s coordinated image.
The project won the Compasso d'Oro in 1984.
